Is there a generic PHP module for interactive product database search?

I want to add advanced search similar to amazon.com or newegg.com on my website. The one that shows results on one part of the screen and gives you more options on the left side to narrow it down. Is there a generic PHP module that can help, or do I have to code this "from scratch"?
