And how is it formed?
The whole area across from my house is like this.
The dirt is dry, but instead of blowing away like sand, it seems to have hardened into what almost seems like a brittle rock with cracks in it. There are occasional spots of bushy grasses and the rare shrub. The area basically seems dead.
