Is There a Financial Requirement For UK Settlement Visa?

I know with some countries there are financial requirements a person must meet when applying for settlement as far as a certain amount of money they must have to be eligible for settlement. With the UK would a wife of a UK citizen need to meet a financial requirement in order for her to be granted a UK settlement visa? If so exactly how much money does she or they (husband and wife) need to have.

*Note* The husband (the UK citizen) lives outside of the UK with the wife and will be going to the UK to settle as well.
 
i am in the same situation, thank god it's nearly all over. i had to go to court.

Home office representative told me (this was in January 2009, still my wife hasnt come hear yet) that for a couple to live in the UK, they must have enough money for both of them, so one of you, or both of you will have to make atleast £94 a week each. that is minus hosing/rent costs, bills, council tax, etc.

I battled for 3 years on this case, finnally all over next week i'll hopefully have my wife over hear.
