Is the western world serious about combating climate change?
Many say that they want to combat climate change but almost none would pay the price if they saw the cost.
So the answer is no.
Also my answer is no too. I will not pay the cost. Any politician that thinks he can force me will soon be out of a job.

Humans are unfortunately unable to control the temperature of the sun, so humans are unable to control climate change in any way no matter what some very silly fundamentalist religious leaders like Al Gore claim. Currently most of the worlds scientists are trying to figure out just why the sun shut down like it did about 3 years and so far none of them have the slightest clue as to why. All they can discover is the quietest it has ever been in human history and absolutely no one knows why. All we know is with the sun at its lowest recorded output ever the planets are cooling faster than ever recorded in modern history. And no one has a clue as to why and if the sun will ever warm up again.

In response to the answer by James E of course we cannot control the sun however its effects on us are filtered through the o-zone which has diminished significantly since the industrial revolution.

to the initial question the western world is serious because Canada has committed to the kyoto accord and uses of Hydro-Flourocarbons have been banned however the entire world is still mainly fossil fuel based and that is something that must be diminished if we ever intend on living in a clean environment.

The neocons, in this country at least, are trying to scuttle any agreement.
