Is the western media's portrayal of Africa affecting the amount of foreign

investment in the continent? I have asked a question on the western media's portrayal of the continent before but I feel this is quite different. As a young man who dreams of running businesses in Nigeria and Africa as a whole which would transform people's lives, I cant help but wonder how much more difficult this task would be for me when the only thing the western media ever seems to cover on the continent is war and disease. I understand the need to report on stories but the western media seems quick to report the bad and the good mostly goes unreported or if any of it is reported it gets five minutes on CNN's 30 minute programme, "Inside Africa", which then goes on to continue with Zimbabwe's crisis. I live in the UK and people seem more enlightened over here. But my sister in the US has been asked if she has monkeys for neighbours or how long it took to swim to America on several occassions. I like to believe most Americans don't see Africa that way. What can we do to change this false image?
