During the Viet Nam War I remember every Christmas watching the Bob Hope USO tour go around to different base in the war zones and entertain troops as well as visit hospitals and ships. Is this still going on and why is it not on TV at least during Christmas?

Yes they are still entertaining. In fact I recently heard the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders entertained somewhere. The reason you don't see it on TV is it was never a big ratings getter and that is where the money is. That is why some good informative shows are cut short and don't last on TV.

Bob Hope and that type of entertainment is dead. Soldiers have telephones, internet, movies, videos games and everything else. Some entertainers appear there. Besides, this is not really a war like that was. They have fast food, air conditioning, and shoot at people who live in mud houses and have no real weapons. That is a war?

The USO is still alive and kicking! We just had the WWE over here. Kid Rock has come out a few times. There have been some shows in many different places.

As for the TV showing these events, you may want to contact the USO for the reasons.

Now and then Fox News will have a guest entertainer on one of their programs that makes time to entertain the troops when they are touring in that part of the world. I've seen some of them on the Arkansas Governor's Saturday night program. Mike Huckabee.
