Yes. (and forgive the sarcastic tone, I'm mad about it)
It started with Nixon. 1972. President Nixon went to China. At the time we all thought it was to break the stalemate of the Cold War and disrupt China's uneasy alliance with USSR, but a big piece of the plan was to "open up trade" between our two great nations.
Only Nixon COULD go to China because he had built his entire careen fighting communism. Anyone else would have been seen as being a pinko themselves.
And poor china, all those starving people, it was time for America to rescue them from their isolation and help this developing nation somehow. uh hu
Probably this would be a bad time to mention that President Clinton, [doesn't he have a wife, what's her name?] used his Commerce Dept to arrange for China to build some stuff for the space program. But alas, somehow in the process they learned how to make multi-stage rockets actually work. etc etc etc
And now, as one of the answerers so deftly pointed out, there is a huge plan to build a transportation supercorridor from Larado TX to Canada through Kansas City, which will be the hub. This will allow Chinese goods to be shipped to Mexican ports, brought by Mexican trucks right through the heart of USA.
Nobody seems to care that that will put American ports and trucks out of business. Or that this is part of the North American Union plan. But hey, the European Union is working out pretty well isn't it? So what if The United States of America also includes Canada and Mexico.
To paraphrase the old movie: "Borders? We don't need no stinkin borders!"
I'm so disgusted I can't continue writing about this. We are being sold out at every turn. So to answer your question, yes, USA is responsible for China becoming the next World Superpower while USA will become the next Guatamala.
