Yes it is Toyota, it handles well and is a compact SUV. Anything compact will be a good first time car. Any sedan will be a good first time car. Also its a good first time car because you won't have to do a lot of repairs, basically none because they never break down. Another good first time car would be the subaru forester or a subaru impreza. They both have symmetrical all wheel drive but yeah theres alot of good cars in that price range
