Is the Toyota Prius considered to be an old persons car?

I have seen many young people driving them on TV shows, including the vampire diaries. I thought that that they were considered a young and cool car because of this. I am considering getting a car for my daughter, and mentioned a Prius, but she said yuck and that they are cars for old people and her friends would laugh at her. She wants a pre-owned BMW or Lincoln instead, which is odd as I think of them as older persons cars. Kids these days I guess!

Some of it depends on the person. It depends on what is important to them; size, style, speed, fuel efficiency, price range, etc.

You didn't mention how old your child is. I don't know if she is a teenager or early twenties. I would think these age groups (especially teenagers) would be less concerned about the economical choice.

Prius: I think of people in their mid to late 20's and 30yr olds. People with long commutes. Maybe some older people. It's not a family car (in my opinion), so it would seem to skip that "mom's car" image.

My daughter will soon be turn 16 and she will drive a beater car. When she turns 18, I want to help buy her a newer car (co-sign a loan). I would want it to be safe and economical. However, if she would act more concerned about what is cool, then there is no way I would help her in that way. That to me would show a lack of respect, maturity and sense of responsibility.
