...less than in Europe? Taxes in Europe are higher than in the U.S. However, although taxes are lower in the U.S., most citizens of the U.S. are unaware of this and complain about the high taxes that they think they pay. Is the total burden on the U.S. economy (from taxes and from all of the complaining about taxes) more or less than the tax burden in European countries with higher taxes but less complaining, such as Denmark?
 
Overall, taxes in the US are low relative to the rest of the developed world. Right now they are probably too low.

Regardless of what the tax burden is, some people will still complain.
 
Europe doesn't complain as much because their tax money goes into more things that better their communities and make their lives easier so they aren't as frustrated, such as Health Care. USA complains because we know majority of our tax money is being wasted and thrown away on things such as wars and building prisons and arresting more people for minor marijuana charges. We have more people in prison than any other country.
