The SV is a good bike, but it is a twin that makes quite a bit less power than the gsxr. If you could get over that crazy horsepower fixation, you might find you liked it, but I'm thinkin' it's not really the bike for you.

Last year i got my first bike, a 600 gsxr, just something to learn on. I had a blast on it, but i was a new rider and it was pretty old so i sold it wanting to buy another bike this spring. I wanted something a bit bigger, im 6'3 230lbs, and granted the 600 seemed to have enough power for me i guess for cruising around town i still wanted more. I was thinkin about a newer 750 gsxr, i dont think i need a super bike. I have a friend that came to me, he has an 02 sv650 he told me he would sell me for $3000, its in excellent shape and very low miles. Would that be a good bike for me? Whats the biggest difference between the sv and the gsxr? downfalls of the SV?

The main difference between the two is about 60hp...... in the gsxr's favour.

The SV is a a sweet, sweet, bike, but not very comparable to a supersport like the gixxer.
Around town it will be the better of the two, thanks to its less radical riding position and torquey motor.

A word of caution: try it first. My ex-son-in-law has an SV. I'm 6'1" and I find it cramped
