i am doing 40 minutes on the bike, i do a "weight loss" system which changes the tension from medium to harder, and i go between 14-18 ish mph, i sweat a lot and breathe haard but if i wanted to i could still talk, and my leg muscles do get tired/hurt but i keep going. is this a good way to burn calories/get in shape?

bike and run are the best ways to burn calories, both will help you loose weight but have this clear this kind of exercise don't help you getting muscles bigger. So if you just want to loose weight you are in the right way. Continue and do it constantly.

well youll loose calories but i really think its a waste of time... run 20 minutes on a tredmil you get why better results.

my mom has one ive tried it and its so akward and unconfortable im serious running takes way less time and its waaay better for you.

Yes. Just make sure that when you are no longer tired you make it more difficult, a higher tension. If you do that and every once and a while run you will get in shape.

Take a look at the Tour De France. Those guys are lean and cut.....no bulk. If this is the look your going for, keep training. I personally love the challenge of a cycling workout

Well, I would increase your mph to about 15-20, the higher the better. If you want to get in shape, I would suggest, the best way to do it is buy a bike and go biking outside. The inclines will help. The best was to burn calories, though, is to play a sport or do something that requires more lower to mid body strength. i.e. volleyball, basketball, and figure skating. Hope I helped!
