This may seem oxymoronic since i get that a closer is supposed to close. However i look at a pitcher such as trevor hoffman and consider he is the all time saves leader yet how many of those games had true pressure? I look at someone like Armando Benitez whose career numbers are actually pretty outstanding yet was seen as unreliable. Someone Like Mariano Rivera's career high in saves is far below Francisco Rodriguez's 62 yet Rodriguez often put people on base during his saves. How about someone like Goose Goosage who yes pitched in a different era but he was his own setup man. This statistic has me in between, what do you think?
