I think I know what you are getting at, but it's hard to make a generalization. Has the Republican party been hijacked by people who are not truly conservative? Absolutely. Do these people represent everyone in the republican party? Certainly not.

there are VERY few conservatives in Congress as a whole. Those who voted for the Schavio bill basically admit they are not conservative.
