Is the ps3 worth it?

in my opinion it's only worth getting RIGHT NOW if you want to watch blu-ray movies. if you don't, then wait 6 months to get one, that way they'll have a half way decent library of games to play. do you have a birthday in the next 6 months or so? if you do, then ask for the hd-dvd add-on for the 360 now, and the ps3 for your birthday
 
I don't regret buying mine at all. There are great games out for it right now, but since you have a 360 you may have already played them. Still, MotorStorm (JPN), Resistance, Gran Turismo: HD Concept are all great. There are a lot of great games coming out within the next 2 months as well.

As far as blu-ray movies go, I must admit i'm a little disappointed in the library so far but it needs time. It's probably just me though, as i'm also not fond of the HD-DVD library.

Is the PS3 worth it? Definitely. Is it worth it for you to get right now? Well, that's up to you, but you aren't paying for it so what do you have to lose? If you don't love the PS3 now, you will love it later.
 
FF isn't that big of a deal, imo. I've been playing the shit out of FoM and Ncaa 2007 football and it doesn't make a difference. I dunno. You white people seem to have the jitters for having something shake in your hands.
 
no point getting it now just to let it collect dust wait till a few good games come out then buy one maybe by the time some good games are out the price might drop or they might fix some bugs on the ps3
 
There are also about 7-8 times the amount of 360s in people's homes as there are PS3s right now too. Last year this time you couldn't find an xbox 360 in the stores. It wasn't until march or so that they were readily available. The fact that they havn't sold that many in comparison plus the fact that they're sitting on store shelves right now shows the supply > the demand.

So, right now your logic is in the hole about 7 million units.
 
Maybe they sold out quickly just because it was a limited edition. Since the HD-DVD uses a more economical blue diaode, they could produce more numbers. Toshiba just came out with an HD-DVD player that supports 1080p. Price? $600, msrp.

Regarding what I underlined: he would have gone stark raving mad after double clicking that Half Life 2 icon and having to wait 5 to 7 minutes before the game started.

As far as waiting goes, he mustn't own any Disney films which have over 20 commercials in them, at least 10 minutes worth of movie trailers. He definitely doesn't own a VHS to DVD recorder.
 
for me its just that fact that i would rather play any video game that will be on both ps3 and 360 on the ps3. i will always buy games for the ps3 over the 360. i only have a 360 for the few great exclusives it has. i dont understand who in their right mind would turn down a ps3 that will have lots of exclusives that you will regret not being able to play for a hd-dvd player

So that may hold your decision right there.

However, I'd go with the HD-DVD add on. I'm by no means an MS fanboy or anything, I really want all 3 systems. However look at it realistically. What the fuck does the PS3 have? Comparison tests have shown that game vs game, the 360 generally looks better. You can hardly notice a real difference but the textures and lighting show the difference and the 360 generally wins.

3rd, at 600 bucks a pop for the cheapest Blue Ray player (the PS3), blue ray doesn't really sound like it's going anywhere. Not to mention that the version 2 360 is supposed to have built in HD DVD, that will just further HD DVD's lead and turn it into the most used format.

This is all pure speculation, but current supply and demand trends seem to be flowing like that.

I'd go for the HD DVD add on and maybe a couple of movies and or games if you can.
 
Blu Ray is gaining speed.... Besides didn't an MS rep himself say something along the lines of HD-DVD being the next Betamax? From a supporter of the media itself? Seriously though, it's too early to say who wins this format right now because it's too early and we are on the verge of seeing combo disc's with both blu ray and hddvd as well has hybrid players.

You make a good point - how long does the PS3 take to play a movie? Is it just like the PS2? For that matter, does the PS2 have a noticable transition time?

Me, I'm just interested to know if there is a layer transition while the movie is playing. On one of my two DVD players it is quite noticable, on my other it is almost non-existant.
 
Get a ps3 now, I have one and don't regret it at all. I play it juts as much as my 360. You can buy the 360 addon later if you really wanna watch hd dvd titles.
