Is the pope evil or just misguided?

I'm not sure, but didn't many on the right consider the last pope to be liberal? (However, at the same time, I think some Catholics who were a bit more to the left thought him to be too Conservative.)
By the way, isn't the Catholic church the only Christian denomination to have a higherarchy? I mean that it seems to me that most of the other denominations are mostly set places in their own church buildings but there is no "head Hancho" in a parliment like government.
But back to the point about the pope; from what I heard, he didn't even want the job. He was wanting to retire. But based upon what I have heard and read, (and I'm Protestant, not Catholic) I think he would be misguided. But since I'm not Catholic, I'll leave the voting to someone who is Catholic.
 
Benedict makes John Paul II look like a commie pinko, and if you know anything about JP II, you'll know that is saying a lot. At any rate, the good news is he's pretty old, so we'll have a new one soon...hopefully.:cry:
 
I believe that's correct. While other Christian sects have formal associations
that direct policy for the association, most ministries are individual entities with their own board of directors.

A Portland, OR court recently ruled that the Catholic Diocese there 'owns' all the parishes (individual churches) within its assigned jurisdiction. Lawyers for plaintiRAB in molestation civil suits were considering going after Rome's assets but the burden of proving Rome's complicity through hierarchy policy would have meant going up against Rome's vast resources and public opinion, not a rewarding prospect. The basis is certainly there, transferring pedophile priests from diocese to diocese across state lines to shield them from local prosecution, but taking on the pope in federal court is another matter.
 
Worldwide, the Lutheran Church is quite hierarchal with bishops and archbishops--everything but the pope.

I've never seen a Lutheran bishop even though I grew up Lutheran and was confirmed. I would have thought he could have made an appearance at my class confirmation and waved his hanRAB about, but no.
