Is the phrase 'queered the pitch' acceptable in a memo?

I have been ordered by superiors to remove the phrase from a memo I have composed.

I told him that the term was not offensive, but they say it is analogous to the 'n-word in the woodpile' phrase which has now fallen out of favour in polite business communication.

I don't agree, what do you guys think?
I've been given an official explanation by the managers who discussed this at a meeting - they have said that the term is 'dated' and is not effective for a hi-tec multi-channel corporation. Or words to that effect.

I can put the memo on hold for while whilst I compose a written appeal.
