If you understand that 1) macro photography means you can get a 1:1 image to subject ratio and that 2) to do that, you really need a DSLR and macro lens, the L110 might do what you want and that is to take closeup photos.
The L110 can focus as close as 0.4" to the subject
Before you buy anything, go into a store that has the L110 in stock and test it yourself. It may well do exactly what you want. At around $250 is certainly costs a lot less than an entry level DSLR and macro lens ($550 for the camera and standard lens and another $600 for a 60 mm f/2.8 macro lens)
The L110 is a very good advanced P&S camera in all other aspects, so if it does indeed focus close enough for you in the store, you should be happy with the rest of its performance.
