is the navy all bad or is it what you make of it like anything else? and is advanced...

Who says the Navy is "all bad?" Just like the first poster said, it's what you make of it, it's just like anything you do in life. Good luck.
And Jake, how sad that there are still people like you who think the Navy has it easy. And who said they're not on the front lines? Why, are ALL the Marines, Army, and Air Force in the front lines? You cannot and should not generalize everyone in a group.

The Navy has bad aspects and good aspects. Most of the time, it depends on what you make of it. But that can be difficult when you have senior enlisted or officers who are poor leaders, or when you have to work with co-workers who are hard to get along with. Some people who join the Navy actually hate sea duty. So expect the possibility of sea duty. Otherwise, stay out of the Navy.
Advanced electronics is a great job whether you do it in the military or as a civilian. The smart thing to do is to get as much electronics training as possible while in the Navy (since you don't have to pay for it). Then you have the choice of reenlisting and receiving large cash bonuses, or becoming a civilian and making a good salary.

it's what you make of it...and your rate plays a big part also. what rate will you be? i'll tell you what you'd really be doing
ok..i'm not going to pretend to know what ET's do. They have a good advancement rate and whenever you need to get your personal electronics tagged(make sure they're ok for ship use) they do that. they also did a lot of maintenance on radars. FC's on the other hand, don't advance as fast as ET's but it's still a good rate. There were 2 different FC NEC's on my ship. One did the 5" guns and the other did Tomahawks. Either one you choose you can't go wrong in my opinion. Plus you get a top secret security clearance which is highly valued in the civilian sector should you choose to leave the navy.

The navy has not been on the front line of a battle since ww2. It is easy time and you can learn a trade. Most importantly, because you are a girl you will never be asked to risk your life for anything.
