Is the N95 THE most anticipated phone ever ?

This is way off. Maybe it is for Symbian but the first N-series phones, particularly the N90 and N91, were probably more anticipated.

In the real world, phones with names, something that Nokia needs to adopt, kill the N95 in terms of highly anticipated.

-razr

-chocolate

-pearl

-iphone

All far more anticipated in Canada/USA.

Can't speak for eurasia tho....

how about...."the communicator"....that's the problem...too boring. And the masses dont realize it's quite the contrary. The others are boring! Chocolate/Razr/Pearl...dont know about Iphone but I know about the rzr and pearl. Pearl is a great "work" phone. Great voice and great email (although no html email) Other than that it stinks IMO.

Unless the firmware is tight and stable, I can see alot of ppl being disappointed at a bunch of promised features that aren't reliable....

Based on Symbian's track record of course...

It is...but how exciting is that with all the other names they have out there. JP brings up a good point. Although i dont want Nokia to sell out and start naming their phones.....other than the n-gage of course.

As much as I knocked the Pearl the one thing it can certainly do is multitask. I'm not even sure what kind of RAM it has but nothing actually closes on the phone unless you prompt it to. Like S60 of the past, the end button does not close the app. I'm amazed when I actually check to see how many things are running at one time. It seems like it can keep every application open at one time with 0 lag. i agree that Nokia really needs to get their butts in gear and start feeding us more RAM. I think the E90's 80mb's of available RAM is a good start but their is little doubt that most are lacking.

in general, i'd have to say the iphone will be the most anticipated phone. N95 might be the most anticipated on this website, due to the fact we all know our phones. However, i'd say more people know about the iphone and its features, opposed to a n95.

The w810 is a legit phone with legit features IMHO. But I agree, it is kind of common.

If the N95 did become "common" (which IMO is relative), we would all find another phone to lust over -

lol, the N95 will be a common phone so I don't know what Angel_Wing is talking about.

And to your point, the w810i is a sick phone, as was the s710a to many ppl, not like the flopshow N-Gage lol

Nah.
Seems difficult to imagine that ANY phone could have generated as many pre-release threads/posts and for so long in advance, as the N95.
It's lusted over not because of any anticipated exclusivity, but because of its capabilities.
It is quite simply, the most fully featured mobile ever to be released.
Don't need exclusivity to create hype for that.

S60 seems to have very bad memory management. It looks like after you start an app, it loads the whole dam thing into RAM from the flash memory or memory card, instead of just paging the bits of the app it is using. If this is what it's doing there's even hope that the memory management could be improved by firmware updates without adding more RAM

I think their are marginal RAM improvements with some FW updates. I think this is the reason the N95 is not yet released. Gripes about RAM seem to create the biggest perception that s60's are not stable. If the N95 can get that under control their going to have a winner.
