The problem with the truth squad is not so much that they are out there, but that they are a grouping of law enforcement officials using their position as law enforcement to intimidate voters.

If they hadn't come out and said, "We are prosecutors and law enforcement who are going to come after those who imply or speak falsehoods about Obama" it wouldn't be a big deal.

Now the McCain supporters in Missouri are concerned with "if I send this email" will I get in trouble? If I publicly support McCain, will they go through my law records and ruin my good name? Perhaps an unpaid parking ticket, or a DUI when I was 21?

This is voter intimidation and it's wrong.

However, if they hadn't organized as 'law enforcement officials' it would be no big deal.
 
I find it very odd that Obama even needs these people to clear what they think is rumors.

He is clearly stating he is Christian, but christians have a problem with his entire past being Muslem right up until he started running for prez.

Read your question carefully. You are suggesting that the law will require Obama to muffle his free speech rights, but not muffle McCain's free speech rights. Is this what you really meant?
 
The Republican party needs to be more care full about spreading lies and sander. All the parties do . How ever the Republican party wins the prize when it comes to the most vicious lies and slander this election.
 
Barak Obama has one goal: to get elected. He does not care what law he breaks, what constitutional right he takes away from his opponent as long as he wins. He has lied and deceived and the media has not called him on it. They only look for negatives on McCain. Journalism has lost all its ethics when it comes to Obama. He is a complete phony and no one seems to be telling his story.
 
They are being bribed to use the law against its citizens who consider their rights under the Constitution.
 
Slander and defamation of character are not protected under constituently protected rights, they are in fact illegal.
 
So trying to stop illegal ads that lie is "muffling free speech"? Those ads break Missouri laws, yet you want illegal ads to run? What about the rule of law?
 
Where is the outrage from Obamabots, they called Palin on her supposed book ban in Alaska, why are they outraged here by the suppression of free speech? Hypocrites!
 
I see nothing about the suppression of free speech. They are not causing the ads not to be aired. They are simply explaining to others what they think is untrue in the ads. Are you trying to suppress their free speech rights to do so?
