when feeding him (throwing pieces of sausage in his direction) he was having trouble finding the food. he was kind of sniffing his way. he is a white kitten with a little patch of light orange on his forehead. his eyes are both light blue. how can i test if he is blind?

depending on how old he is. if he is old enough to play with toys, like, bat at something, drag something across the floor to see if he can trail it. try to make it not make noise. if he's too young, he might not want the meat yet, but is becoming curious about it.

Bring him under a bright light and see if his pupils contract. If they don't, that's a pretty good sign that there is something wrong.

Regardless, you should bring him to the vet. The good news is that cats can get along just fine without sight - it's one of their weakest senses to begin with - so if he does have vision problems it's not a big deal :)

PS: Sausage isn't a great food for kittens. It's usually very high in sodium and can have ingredients such as onion or garlic that are toxic to cats.
