Is the Kawasaki ZZR 600 a good first bike?

Generally sportbikes don't make good first bikes. They also don't make much sense for a daily comuter as they go through tires and brakes faster than other styles of bikes. With the high compression engines they can also be difficult to start when the weather gets below 60. Look for a Standard, Dual sport, or Cruiser. They have more low end power giving you better starts and better fuel economy. You should also go to Progressive.com and get a free quote on different bikes. Since you are almost 21 you need to know what insurance will cost you. The Ymaha 650cc v-star is one example of a bike that would make sense for a beginner and a daily comuter. If you like Kawasaki the KLR650 would also be good as a first choice and daily comuter.

I am about to be 21, been wanting a bike for quite a while and found a really good deal on a 2007 ZZR. Was wondering if it wasn't too big to have as a first bike? I'm not looking for a thrill rush mainly just trying to save money on gas. The reviews I have read have been mixed pretty evenly but I thought I would ask here too.
