Is the issue of the Russian so-called spies caught in the US a storm in a teacup?

Everyone knows the major powers have "spies" in each others countries - this is how the world works. But to label those who have recently been caught in the States as "spies" is stretching it a bit, they were foreign agents but they didn't actually do any "spying". They actually had instructions not to apply for government jobs etc. It's good that we have a balance, that we have a US and a Russia or a US and a China or a US and a constantly developing EU - we need balance and part of that means there will always be "spies". So to get all flustered over folks who weren't actually "spies" is a bit much really!

These weren't the brightest spies. I think they were being put out to pasture so to speak.
However, even though the cold war ended, I never trusted them 100%.

Well, geez, just rain on our parade.... I think the whole story is absurd and fun. It reminds me of those "good old days" of the Cold War everyone's always talking about. (PS: Yes, it is a storm in a teacup but you have to remember than today's crop of young Americans have short attention spans, little detailed knowledge of their country's history and can go from merely hyper to horribly terrified in 0.6 sec.)

Wow, storm in a teacup. I haven't heard that in a long time! Cool imagery.
I am totally pro-American, but I must admit I like the idea of spies.
Its so James Bond. And really, what can they learn? Our own people
sold out the plans to our nuclear bomb!
