I would like to know your thoughts on the iPhone as a games platform. I think it could be. However what needs to be improved are the games, and the amount of depth and stories that can be put into said games (I have a PSPgo and DS by the way). The iPhone or the iPod Touch can become a gaming platform, if it gains games that are on par with PSP and DS games, hell Apple should create their own franchises so that way they can gain fans. Also the convenience of having a phone, portable media player, and games console is quite excellent. Personally if I was in the market for a phone I would get a 32GB iPhone 3GS. As it has a lot of excellent features and what not. I always knew Apple would get into gaming, one way or another, and they should. So yeah. Is the iPhone A Gaming Platform/System??? Do You Think It Is??? What Should Be Improved???

the iphone is great for small, pointless games. However, the iPhone lacks the power and playability (e.g. the touch screen is a lot harder to use for playing a game compared to a controller) of a gaming platform such as the psp or ds. So personally I think it's great for fun, short, cheap games. Don't go into it thinking you'll get super high quality games that have deep storylines. What should be improved is screen quality (much higher resolution), much faster processor, and developers to make these types of games

The iPhone already is a portable gaming platform to some extent. There are hundreds (even thousands?) of games available for the iPhone and iTouch platforms. There are some drawbacks, such as battery life, and poor controls. While the multi-touch and accelerometer features do offer some unique control options which many games have already taken advantage of, it also has some limitations. The fact that it also is a great media player, has GPS, camera, WIFI, not to mention a phone, it could be easily argued that its a better gaming platform then most other portable gaming devices.

As far as pure gaming goes, that is not the device's intended market. You can't fairly compare it to devices which are specifically designed just for gaming (ie. DS, PSP).

So basically it IS a gaming platform, it just is a different type of gaming platform then a PSP or DS, especially since it offers so many more features that those other gaming devices don't.
