is the financial bailout plan really bad?

it seems really bad to me. arent all of us normal people going to pay for the greedy and irresponsible decisions of others? i think they should have to suffer the consequences. they are going to avoid the bad consequences of their actions by using our tax money, right? also, what would happen to the average americans like me if we did just let the system collapse? wouldn't it mostly just be the super rich who suffer?
