We're inundated with environmental warnings, and I'm grateful that so many people care for the planet, it's ecosystems, flora and fauna. But sometimes I can't help thinking that the sheer volume of stories may be exaggerating the problem. For example, we know that millions of species and an unknown number of dramatic climate changes came and went without human intervention. We know that the planet survived those extinctions and ice ages. Yet it seems that many people are trying to keep the planet exactly the way it is at this moment, which based on all available evidence would seem to be both impractical and impossible. So, is the current danger to the environment being over-hyped?
