Is the bible a good book on history?

A great flood that killed everyone? Why didn't God, the supposed creator of the universe, just do away with sin instead of murdering?

The story of Sodom? God destroying two cities and then turning Lot's wife into a pillar of salt just because she peaked?

Lot's daughters tricking him into sleeping with them?

The torment Job was put through just so God could prove a point to Satan?

The Earth is only 6,000 years old?

How is it someone can read the bible, can read these stories and think God is good? Or even, how can they believe any of this stuff really happened?

actually, the Bible's been tested on history, geography, facts, and information and they've found out the New Testament is 99% true. the other 1% is locations destroyed in battles. so yes, the Bible is a good book on history and Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth.

do you know the story in the Bible where God parted the Red Sea for the soldiers to cross?
scientists had some divers check it out a couple years ago. and the divers came back up with chariot wheels and spears.

"The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”
