Is the belief in the supremacy of science required to be an atheist or not?

Now, the quick answer is NO, atheism has nothing to do with science, just a belief that there are no Gods.

However, have you noticed that atheists use it all the time in the framing of their questions, answers, and criticisms of anything religious?

If you actually make a scientific point, they will then say something like: "I don't care about science, I just don't believe in a God", or "You sure don't understand atheism, you need to read a book before you post a question again...stupid"

A thousand times over it has been stated that science can neither prove or disprove God, and yet it is still viewed as the Kryptonite to religion, like garlic or holy water is to a vampire, and the mere mention of science by the atheist makes the Christian brain melt out their ears.
