is the $30 unlimited web plan required for t-mobile phones?

If thats too much, Dont get that phone. Its that simple. That 30 keeps you from having data overages of like 300. Its not required on ALL phones, just Smartphones.

A smartphone is almost impossible to keep from using lots of data, and if you dont get the unlimited plan, each KB it sends costs you money.
 
i was gonna buy a phone from t-mobile but on top of the 40$ monthly fee, it says i have to buy a 30$ monthly unlimited web plan too! is this required? the phone is the motorola cliq xt with motoblur. 70$ is a little too much for me!
