Is the 2009 Toyota Yaris suitable and stylish enough for a Male College Student?

Okay, so Im going off to college in California from Virginia, and I need a new car for road trips when I want to drive instead of flying back and forth. Right now, I drive a 2002 Mitsuibishi Lancer with over 120K that isnt reliable at all, but the Toyota Yaris is cheap and and small, which is good for me becuz i dont have a lot of money and I suck at parking, so small is good. But are yaris's for girls or guys? I wanna get a 3 door hatchback, but I dont wanna look gay or anything, haha.
 
I have a friend with a Yaris and its a very reliable car that gets great gas mileage. Who cares what other people think, you're in college, finish that up and when you start your career you can get something more stylish.

Get the Yaris... or a Honda equivalent. Do not get a Mini Cooper, they are serviced by BMW and expensive to maintain... a used one will be as expensive as a new Yaris and you would have an unknown history of how the car was treated.
