Yes, Hondas are great cars.
'4 cylinders' means that four pistons turn the drive axle. It's really not important to know exactly what it does, just that with 4 cyliders you will get better gas mileage, but the car will not be as fast as one with 6 or 8 cylinders.
One thing I would check (having owned Hondas and Acuras) is whether or not the timing belt has been replaced.
117k miles is just past the recommended mileage for replacement for many Honda models. (Double check the owners manual for that model)
This is very important, because a $17 timing belt can cost you $1000's if it breaks. ( I say that from experience

)
If it hasn't yet been changed, it will cost about $400-600 to change it. (Very labor intensive) You might want to consider this when negotiating a price.
Have a qualified mechanic check it out before you buy.
