if its been taken care of, in good shape, then yes I would say that is around the normal street price for that bike in my area. The price really varies on them though... one that has aftermarket parts, a good top end, could be anywhere from $1000-$2000. Anyways, if you're planning on racing the newer models will have an advantage over you but if you're just screwing around with one it would be good. I suggest you get a service manual as that kind of bike needs some extra maintenance.. like replacing top end, and cleaning carb.
