Is the $15 data package for Verizon a good deal?

I went to the Verizon store earlier looking to upgrade my phone to the Motorola Droid 2 and the woman said that the Droid 2 often goes over the 150mb limit because the phone is constantly searching for things to update (Twitter, Facebook, email, etc). I can't get the $30 package. Are there any Verizon smartphones that don't do this?
