Is tanning outdoors (with no sunscreen, no tanning lotion, etc...) bad for you?

Isn't it natural for us to go out in the sun? Why are people so scared of tanning?
I go out for an hour a day with normal lotion around 1. I have really fair skin but don't burn super easy... I don't think it's bad at all and people should do it more often =)

Because of ultraviolet rays from the sun, being outdoors can cause serious damage to the skin. This damage can sometimes lead to skin cancer, and this damage ALWAYS leads to ugly skin later in life.
If you want to stay looking young and healthy, I advise wearing sunscreen during the summer, and always wearing a foundation with heavy SPF. Even when it is overcast, the sun's ultraviolet rays still come through the clouds and damage your skin ( and eyes! ).
People are not scared of tanning, people are taking necessary precautions to prevent cancer and skin damage.

Obviously...especially since there are harmful UVA/UVB rays that damage your skin. Did you know that the NUMBER ONE cause for wrinkles was? THE SUN. Notice that on your forearm that there is one side that isnt exposed very often and is lighter yet more firm and softer compared to the other side where its darker and is less supple? Yeah thats your answer there.
Sunscreen will not prevent you from tanning, it just prevents the harmful rays. So even if you put sunscreen on youll still tan, so you might as well protect yourself while tanning. And there is a difference between going out and laying out to tan.
