Is Taggart indestructible?

Is it one of those bombproof shows like Corrie ,Casualty that can just go on and on reinventing itself while staying true to essence/original concept?:)

This series has the highest ratings in a long time as it does not have ITV involved which deliberately tried to bury the show by stifling creativity and dumbing down stories. The gritty realism seen in the Mark McManus and Neil Duncan era is back.

Its not an ITV show. Its made and produced by STV. STV have sold it around the world and generate more revenue from these sales than they do from ITV.

Even if ITV weilded the axe it would carry on. Personally I think its in good form just now. The one hour format of recent series suits it perfectly IMO.

How do you know? There is no access to these figures. Stv said it is on par with Downton Abbey not better.
Also not every one agrees with your views, just go on the Taggart Official Facebook page, people are not entirely happy with their "creativity".

People on Facebook are always starting stupid campaigns and complaining about every little thing no one with half a brain take these people serious. Their either politicians or people with vested interests pushing an agenda. No one in media takes these people seriously.

These figures are available for all through BARB if you can find them and are easily obtained by people within media through other sources.

The show has survived many cast changes including the shows namesake Jim Taggart.I do however believe that Jackie Reid is virtually untouchable.

Ok, so what were the figures then? You claimed "This series has the highest ratings in a long time".
Can you provide them and prove they were better than a long time?

It's a good show, but the one hour episodes seem rushed. Maybe make them two parters as occured in the Mark Mc Manus era. Also Taggart makes Scotland

The self contained one hour shows feel too rushed for me compared to what I consider to be the golden years where a single story would be told over several one hour shows, with a nice gory secondary murder just as the first episode was drawing to a close.

The big problem used to be that you risked missing the 2nd or 3rd episode, but these days with series link that's less of a problem. I hope they go back to it, even if single one hour episodes are more fashionable these days.

Indeed. I could make any outlandish claim but without the stats they mean nothing.

Angustay, post a link to the relevant ratings (current and past) and we will believe you.:)
