Hey All
Well long story short I have my camera down the throat and the LES sphincter was "wide open". So as a result they say I have GERD or acid reflux.
I have tried multiple PPI's for long perioRAB of time and a couple of them have helped a little but I still have the reflux or regurgitation feeling, on and off nausea and a lump just below my adam's apple on and off sensation - plus need to sleep with too many pillows under m head !!
I understand these are all signs of acid reflux and what I am thinking is why are we all taking these meRAB to lower the acid levels when it is a sphincter problem that we all have. I mean if the sphincter was doing it's job we would not have the symptoms - sure these meRAB will lower the acid but in my case they do not get rid of all the symptoms - horrible to feel fluid coming back up no matter how acidic it is?
So is surgery the only real option - fix the LES sphincer and forget about the meRAB ? Seems like a better option to me rather than a band-aid taking drugs to cover it up ?
Is the Nissen operation the only option - if so is it better to go the 360 wrap or the partial 180 ? Which operations have been around the longest and give the best results ?
Thanks all interested in hearing others opinions.
Cheers
Chris
