Is Suncoast/SamGoody having another wave of closers?

The Southland store is closing now too. I must say, I got all but the first "Mao Chan" DVRAB at a great price before the Dearborn one closed. I would have likely gotten more, except I unfortunately lost my ATM card just as it was closing up for good....

I happened to be walking the mall in Dearborn, and I found the closed Suncoast store to be holding a Grand Opening Sale.

Go figure.

The one I knew of in San Antonio is still open, though since all their merchandise costs more than at Best Buy. I still stop there though, some stuff just can't be gotten at Best Buy.

Till the last time I went to Plaza las Americas here in Puertorico or to the next 3 other malls who have Suncoast stores, they were still open. I noticed that Plaza las Americas opened a Sony store. That had to be around two months ago since I had not seen it before when I discovered it.

If Suncoast movies was sold, then I guess the effects will be felt here in Puertorico as well.

Altough there aren't any Sam Goody stores here in PR.

My Suncoast is now officially closed.

And I don't think anyone wants to buy it.

[joke] It's starting to smell like cheese and seems to bleed chocolate milk. It has become quite the social spot for the mice, though. [/joke]

I reserved a bunch of summer releases at Suncoast, expecting to pick them up at their Manhattan Mall store... and finding it closed. So when I got my pick-up calls, I asked them to hold my reservations until the end of August. The upside? The guy from the Westside Pavilon store I'd made my reservations at did say that the West Coast managers were looking into reopening some locations in the near future.

The Suncoast at the Mall of America is no more. Another piece of my childhood, gone. Luckily, there are still two Suncoasts that are closer to where I live anyway, which is certainly more than many other areas of the U.S.

whoa, I didnt know that place closed too. Mall of america is getting lame. They changed camp snoopys name. thats a piece of my childhood too. Oh well, at least theres the waterpark of MOA

The Sam Goody there is still open; if THAT were closed, the MOA would REALLY suck.

EDIT: This is totally unrelated to anime, but the Planet Hollywood in the MOA is also closed. A shame. I went there so much.

In the same spot where Sam Goody once was at Woodfield Mall, there will be a FYE opening up this summer. That should be nice, since the mall currently has no CD/DVD music stores.

I don't think there are too many left in the Chicagoland area. I had a Suncoast and a Sam Goody close at the same time...and just after I finally bought their damned rewarRAB card. That was 6 bucks wasted.

A friend of mine, her sister is an Executive of Suncoast from a few states and Puertorico. She mentioned me that they will not be closing in Puertorico, but a few yrs ago they closed one in Ponce PR. I forgot to ask her how many stores in the states would stay open

Maybe not. If you like to hop over to Detroit for the weekend, I believe there's some cheapie air or train packages (practically around the corner from the Dearborn train station is the Fairlane Town Center where Suncoast is at, just a five-minute trip by bus, really.

no they are not closing down more stores. if they do its because it is unprofitable. The reason the Suncoast in the Mall of America closed was becuase the rent is way to expensive, and people would shop at Sam Goody instead of Suncast, so it was unprofitable to have a Suncoast there and besides, Sam Goody and Suncoast are the same company, so there is no point in having two there. Also, Suncoast actually is opening up six more stores in the U.S.! Trans World Entertainment also is considering opening up six more stores after that. So, Suncoast is not closing down. Also, there are still four more stores not that far away from the Mall of America, so no need to complain!
