I tend to hang out in a section where question are asked constantly by people about body language - what does it mean when he raises his eyebrows, why does he initiate prolonged eye contact, why would he push me away but still look like he wants to be near me, you get the picture.
Most of the questions seem to be VERY simple body language and speech signals that we instinctively learn as we continue to interact with people.
So - it has made me wonder whether the 24-78 connection to social media, txting etc. is eroding our ability to pick up these signals when they occur.
Because we can generally filter emotions and edit what we really WANT to say in a text or a post - are we being starved of the very thing that helps us understand non verbal signals when we are face to face?
LOL make that 24-7! not 78
@LORI - maybe you need to glue pictures of yourself to the floor so they will recognise you
@No name - as long as you tell me how you got your Avatar to show no name - seems fair.
When you are interested (opposite of indifference) in something or someone you lean forward, quite often you might rest your head on one hand, slightly squint your eyes which shows you are thinking about what is being said.
Indifference can easily look rude - head down when someone is talking to you, leaning back in your chair, looking anywhere else but at the person... these signals show a lack of interest.
I'm not sure this is what you are after. Looking lost can can be identified by looking around the space quite quickly, a very slight brow furrow, not making eye contact - all of these things denote stress or being "lost".
If someone is speaking to you or a group - try to maintain eye contact for brief period or look just over their shoulder and up to show with a slight brow furrow to show you are thinking about what they are saying. Looking up denotes critical thinking - looking down denot
