I'd never done it before, but the situation called for immediate action. Not really thinking about it, I showed up at the house of this guy I was talking to. He lives with four room mates and I know all of them. I've been invited over to parties when the guy I was talking to was not there by his room mates so I didn't think much of it. Anyway, he was completely freaked about it. I thought that handling the situation face to face was more adult than via text message. Anyway, I apologized for it and said I meant no disrespect by just showing up.
