Is sex for pleasure acceptable in islam between spouses?

i am aware that there are some conditions of haram such as to not preform this act during the females discomfort of any sort or anal sex.
but i've read that we follow this according our holy prophets actions....but i'm still confused since birth control was very limited and has only advanced over time.
 
Muslims are human, and not all Muslims follow strict rules as in the Wahabbi tradition so not all Muslim women have a "female circumcision" so yes, I'm sure some Muslim couples have sex for pleasure.
