Is riding in a stick shift car always less comfortable than......?

an automatic one? What if the driver is really experienced, and it's a pretty new car? Can you always feel the jerks of shifting gears, etc.?

Depends mostly on the driver - but, realistically, no one can change gears quite as smoothly as an automatic.

I learned to drive a stick in 1957. I learned through years of driving, that you can shift as easlily as an automatic shifts. Automatics do shift. I'm sad to say, my 25 year old daughter, thought it was cool to have a 5 speed. She was broad sided by an SUV. She lost control and flipped her car. She died at that time. I wonder, if she was trying to shift and gain control of her vehicle, before she hit the pole? In an auto-matic, I believe, she wouldn't have lost control.
