Is religion responsible for the majority of war?

I have heard the claim that religion is behind 90% of all wars many times, and yet an objective look at the reasons for most military actions clearly points to non-religious motives.

Please list wars fought over religion and your reasoning for each. Thanks.

Doubt the 90% figure. Population pressure contributes greatly. Poverty and revolution against oppressive government have to count for something too.

Historically, most wars actually can be traced to conflicts over religion. In some cases it's obvious, in others, it's a more subtle, indirect factor.
