Is {Rec} any good?

[REC] is a great little movie, however as the man says above, Quarantine is the hurried remake of the Spanish original and since you're not a fan of subtitles, i am sure it will be more than a sufficient alternative.
 
OMG i just watched thr spanish version and have to say it is the scariesest film i have seen its great how they did it bliar witch style/28 days later. I recemoned this film to every horro fan you you cant be asked to buy the dvd watch it on youtube what i did they have all the parts 10/10 for scares
 
I thought Rec was one of the most boring movies I had watched in a long time. was expecting sooo much more.
Shot in an interesting way and for me the subtitles I actually enjoyed because it seemed a bit mroe authentic for it to be in another language. (although If your a person who hides behind a pillow, you struggle to follow along)

But a lack of "lights off", in the dark, moments... you never really get scared because the cheap special effects are clearly visible and after the intitial "whats going on" has been answered your just left there waiting for them all to be killed off.
 
so is the remake 'quarentine' any good? cause even though it wont be as scary or as good as the original it might be good to listen to it in english. the bit that scares me in the Spanish version is when the lights go out cause its all hand held and zombies just come i your face. but it was obvious the little girl jennifer had the virus i think the little girl is the scariest zombie like the re-make of Dawn Of THe Dead
 
Yep, love REC.

But are there different versions of this film? I downloaded a copy of REC when I first heard about it ages ago, then I bought the region 2 DVD but I prefer the dodgy copy to the official version. The films are exactly the same cut but theres something about the DVD release that just isn't so good. I can't put my finger on it - it may be the translations or the fact that the copy is a more inferior picture quality (a bit darker and maybe rougher) which suits the film better - I don't know. Still an amazing film though, eagerly awaiting REC2, anyone have anymore news on this, so far I've only seen the posters.
 
[REC] is fab. Check out more subtitled films, DON'T let this put you off films, you are missing out on a whole world of films!!!! Watch subtitled films and you will get use to reading and watching without missing a thing.

It's simple.
 
[REC] isn't that hard to follow without subs. It scared the bejesus out of me a couple of times.
Unfamiliar faces mean that you've no idea who's going to live or die, which adRAB to the fun.
Far better than Yawn of the Dead and its benighted oRABpring.:)
 
The last 10 mins is what ruined the film for me. But I suppose that was meant to be the frightening part about the film with no escape.
 
Fabulous film, watched it for the 1st time last night funnily enough. Do NOT watch Quarentine INSTEAD of it, watch REC first, Quarentine is a very watered down version with a different ending. And don't worry too much about the subtitles, once it kicks off it's not a deep or challenging plot.
 
i agree i have wacthed REC now and it is the scariest handheld camera film horror i have seen the zombies are bloody scary esepcially the little girl even the old woman is . so is quarentine out in cinema now? i thought it was on DVD lol i might go and watch it tommorow but my Mate and GF hate these type of zombie films
 
It's strange because I didn't feel ill at all and I get terrible motion sickness in films when they do this.

I had to switch off Cloverfield half way through because I couldn't stick it anymore and had to carry on watching it the next day.

Even 21 Grams I had to switch off because of the camera work, but [REC] was fine for me lol.




Especially Spanish and French films at the moment.
 
Them, The Ordeal, Satan, Inside, Frontier(s), [REC], The Orphanage and Haute Tension have been the most enjoyable horrors from France and Spain that i have seen recently.

Looking forward to another new French horror called Martyrs which screened at the FrightFest this year too:D
