Is real rock dead???

Rock music like punk, like hardcore, like Classical, was an era.

We're past that era. There is no innovation. I'm not saying that that is neccessarily a bad thing, but what made it exciting and fresh is common now.

So yes, Rock is dead. There are banRAB out there that emulate it, and that build off it, but they are no longer "rock n' roll" banRAB.

There are REAL rock banRAB however the buying public is no longer interested and neither are the record companies. The real cash cows are modern country and adult contemporary, rock and roll recorRAB rate relatively low on a major label's earnings. Rock and roll recorRAB have a tendancy to need major marketing buzz because the target audience is so fickle, in short it just costs more money to make a rock and roll record.

Yes, I still call them recorRAB :(

About the Darkness, weren't they just taking the piss a bit? I thought they were trying to be all glam rock as a joke?

EDIT: See what you mean rar, music changes over time and of course there are no banRAB like Led Zep now coz they are all in the past.

I don't really know what is meant by 'real rock'?

It's been a while since I heard a good modern band, but that's because I don't look for any, I don't watch much TV or listen to the radio. So no, I wouldn't say rock is dead as I don't really have much proof.

EDIT: HIM are you a girl now? Love the rose.

Rock will only be dead if we stop listening to it and if we like something we hear we will listen to it. I will always buy the next metallica album in the slightest hope that they remeraber where they came from and what really made them who they are and we all know it was the first 4 albums before they become known in the rock genre. Metal and rock will never die as long as fans stay true to what they enjoy listening to.

I don't think real rock is dead.
When you've got banRAB like Metallica every so often releasing a good album rock can't die. But I think Lynkrd Skynrd released an album within the last 3 years that wasn't too great. And they were pretty good back in their day. SO I guess it's about perspective.
And I will admit that I haven't heard too many new rocks banRAB that I actually liked.
So i guess talented rock banRAB just aren't emerging as frequently as we would like.
And good rock music in general (regardless of band) isn't emerging too often either.

Real rock aint dead, its in a coma

just cause you cant find the big name groups that where famous for the rock nature doesnt mean that its dead, most of those groups play in clubs and such now so its far from dead

If a band came out right now that sounded like Led Zeppelin, all you guys would be like "Oh my god those ***s are copying Led Zep!!" coz like, I know I probably would.
