Racism and/or bigotry in general is about prejudice; it's about assuming that something is true about a person based on his skin color, or national origin, or ethnicity, or gender, or sexual preference, or religion, or some other characteristic.
I don't quite know what the bible or any other religious scripture/text has to do with it. People ignore those works at their leisure, and call upon them only when the work in question supports their case. Ethics exist whether one is religious or not, imposed (as they must ultimately be) by the society in which we live.
