ideas/tips on photo taking...? Any details would be greatly appreciated. Also, please give suggestions for any other magazines you might know of--- but please list only the more affordable monthly subscriptions. Thank you.

Start with a point and shoot to get the feel of it and get some good mirrors to help out with angels and play around and experiment. have fun

Ehhhhh, it is okay but I never really cared for it. They seem to be bent on keeping people from learning the simple things in photography and tend to dismiss good old common sense knowledge. Most of the ones I liked were european ones. I rarely read any now. I pick up magazines that are aimed more towards fine art BW darkroom (Not the fake crap using photoshop but good honest to God chemicals and film darkrooms).

It's ok. I dropped it because I felt had too much ad content & too little editorial content. They do some equipment reviews, but they're never negative because everything they review advertises with them.

There are always discount coupons so get one off the rack & use a card from it to subscribe. Don't pay full cover price.

I suggest you go to a book or drug store & get a few different mags to see which meets your interests.
