Pluto was considered a planet for many years, and then was declared to be not a planet. Review information about designating a body a planet. Construct two arguments, one with the conclusion “Pluto is a planet” and the other with the conclusion “Pluto is not a planet.” Write all premises in both arguments. Identify the premises that are different in the two arguments. Submit both arguments, and your comments on what change in the premises changed the conclusion. This should be a paragraph on each argument.
 
Pluto is a planetoid called a Kuiper Belt object. There are thousands of such objects beyond Neptune, and kids have a hard enough time learning My Very Excellent Mother Just Served Us Nine (Pizzas). Imagine having to remember a thousand more...
 
It is not a planet. The IAU is considered to be the authority here, and it created a three part criteria. Pluto fell afoul of one: it did not "clear its neighborhood". It is not the dominant body in its region. Hence, it is no longer a planet.

It is, among other things, a "dwarf planet", which is not actually a planet.
