Is PHP good enough ?

Is PHP good enough for programming websites for commercial or official purposes? As PHP is a freeware, is it powerful enough for these?
My company is planning to set up a network for another company. That company is thinking of saving costs. So can we use PHP instead?
 
Yes it's certainly good enough, just because it's freeware doesn't mean it's lacking quality.

Most people criticism is the way it's designed and the way you're forced to write programs. There's lots of articles on this.
