Is photography really a form of art?

Not really...

Photography is not about the camera but techniques. What is the difference between a brush and a camera?

For the visual artist, the brush does all the work... but it the stroke of the artist that creates the art.

For the photographer, it is the camera the does the work to create a photograph but it lies upon the photographer to properly compose and light the scene.

I suppose you have not "photograph" anything.. rather, you just taken a snapshot.

Art is not all about "painting", "making music". Art is said to be anything that man creates. Fine Art is whole new world.. I won't discuss it here as it is lengthy. Try taking a few college courses in Art History or Art Theory and Criticism.

I've always thought of real art as drawing, painting, making music and whatnot.

When you push down the button on a camera and take a picture is it fair to call you an artist?
Because, if you think about it, the camera is doing all the work....
